Style Therapy: Inspiration

Where do you get your style inspiration?

Do you Pinterest? Instagram? Magazines? Women you see around town? All of the above? I’m all of the above plus visions in my head lol! I wanted to share one of my most recent style inspirations with you all.

Meet Clare My youngest “client” and budding fashionista

Clare is the daughter of one of my besties. A few weeks ago, while chatting style at the beach (this boy mom’s dream come true), Clare asked if I would come help her put together some outfits. Day. made. TBH, Clare has an innate sense of style and does just fine on her own, but spending the afternoon playing in a 10-year-old girl’s closet is my idea of a really fun afternoon.

To begin, we organized her space a bit. You know the drill, take out items you aren’t wearing, putting like items together, etc. If you don’t know the drill, check out some of my tips here. Once we got everything organized, Outfit Magic time! We used only items Clare already owns and had so much fun creating new looks for her. I love style juxtaposition. Mixing girly items with high top sneakers, mixing prints that don’t seem to work, etc. and that’s what we did with Clare’s wardrobe. In just a few hours, we created 18 outfits!

A few of our favs

Here’s what I learned from styling this cutie and our therapy for this week.

At 10, Clare already understands the power of an outfit to set the tone for your day. She picks items that make her happy. DO I believe this is innate for some people? I do. But inspiration is everywhere and fashion is such a fun form of self expression. After our afternoon together, I took a look Clare & I styled and recreated for myself

I’ve said this before, but recently read somewhere people need to hear something at least 7 times before they “hear” it, so listen up ladies! GET IN THAT CLOSET AND PLAY DRESS UP. Mix and match everything you own, try it on, snap a pic, invite a friend over. You don’t need a new wardrobe and lots of money to have style. In a few hours, you can create 10-30 new outfits with your current wardrobe and a few new staple items. The majority of my clients don’t need to buy anything new.

I hope this little cutie inspires you to create some new outfits this week! If you do, please send me pics! I live for this stuff, friends!

See you next week, in therapy,

xoxo,

Jess
